Develop your organization to support your community in creating a better world.

Trans, gender diverse and intersex community-led organizations demonstrate remarkable determination in spearheading essential advocacy and educational efforts despite limited resources. While such actions are vital, our communities seldom have the chance to pause and assess their overall strategy and organizational framework. An organizational strengthening strategy can ensure that you are making the most of your available resources to achieve your goals while staying true to your core values.

GATE has developed an Organizational Strengthening Training Course, which is available for free at GATE Learning Hub. This course provides the tools to evaluate your organization and make it more resilient in the long run.

Who is this Training for?

This Toolkit has been designed for trans, gender diverse and intersex-led organizations. However, it applies to any community-led organization that wants to pause and reflect on its organizational performance.

The course aims to increase your ability to develop or boost your organization. The purpose of this training is not to duplicate existing resources but rather to enhance and adjust them to the realities of trans, gender diverse and intersex-led organizations. Beneficially, it gathers recommendations that address the common gaps and challenges encountered by our communities and community-led organizations worldwide.

Who developed the training?

The curriculum was designed by GATE staff based on the request of trans and gender diverse-led community organizations worldwide.

What are the learning modules about?

The training is structured in two chapters, representing two levels for reflecting on your organization:

  •  Developing your organization – How to build strong and sustainable foundations and strategies that will set your organization on the path to success;
  •  Boosting your organization – How to further develop your organization’s capacity by assessing its performance and equipping it to overcome challenges.

Organizational Strengthening Training  is divided into 4 modules:

    • Concrete steps to developing your strategic plan
    • What makes a strategic plan…strategic?

MODULE 3

  • Organizational Assessment
  • Capacity to respond to threats: 
    • Threats from outside (part 1)

MODULE 4

  • Capacity to respond to threats
    • Threats from outside (part 2)
    • Threats from within

By the end of this training, you will have access to the tools and knowledge to enhance your organization’s efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability.
