A Call for Urgent Change – World Mental Health Day 2018
On this World Health Day we call for urgent change. It is necessary to put an end to all medically unnecessary and personally unconsented “normalizing” procedures, but it is not enough. For that change to become real, it is also necessary to ensure intersex youth’s access to information, counselling, systematic and individual advocacy and support, positive representation.

GATE Fact Sheet on Intersex and the Yogyakarta Principles + 10 is a guideline for how the Principles can be used a tool by people and organisations for advocacy. While widely cited in relation to the rights of people of diverse sexual orientation and (to a lesser extent) gender identity, the Principles have had even less impact in promoting the rights of intersex people.
