GATE is an international organization working on gender identity, gender expressions and sex characteristics. It was founded in 2009, and it is registered in New York (USA). GATE programmatic work is organized around four main areas: Depathologization, HIV, Movement Building and UN, with a cross-cutting emphasis on socio-economic justice.
The process to depathologize trans, gender diverse and intersex people in psycho-medical classification and legal systems is threatened by attacks based on “gender ideology” in diverse countries. “Gender Ideology” is being used by conservatives and TERFs to attack legal reform processes, to promote the re-introduction of so-called “conversion” or “reparative” therapies, to block trans and gender diverse children’s depathologization. GATE is working with trans and gender diverse activists, allies and donors to coordinate a collective strategy to face and dismantle this global threat to human rights.
Scope of Work
GATE’s consultant on Gender Ideology will map current dynamics in the field, facilitate and/or participate in related global initiatives, design and produce specific materials (e.g., briefings, statements, toolkits) and contribute to GATE ‘s overall institutional strategy. This post will be contracted for 6 months initially, with the possibility of contract renewal.

- Fluency in other languages (in particular Russian and/or Spanish) is highly desirable.
