Women, feminist, LGBTIQ+, and trans-led organizations have also come together on the occasion of the 47th UN Human Rights Council to jointly affirm feminist principles.
Groups from all over the world have co-signed a letter to reiterate that we must combat and dismantle the patriarchal systems of power that continue to oppress and exclude many of us if we want to achieve justice, equality and liberation for all. Both organizations and individuals worldwide are warmly invited to sign on to the letter and to circulate it widely among their networks.
The fight for LGBTIQ+ human rights and the fight to advance gender equality are inextricably linked. And yet, anti-trans violence and hate increase day by day and trans, and non-binary people have been targeted specifically by both anti-rights and anti-gender actors that seek to revert gender equality gains.
At the 47th session of the Human Rights Council, important discussions that affect both the LGBTI and Feminist movements will be held.
Building on the momentum, States and organizations are co-hosting this global, diverse, cross-regional event. This occasion will bring together women and LGBTIQ+ human rights defenders to speak to the challenges and opportunities created by the crises we face today, and to share reflections on the importance of inclusive and intersectional feminist LGBTI mobilization.
