As a key population, it is essential that trans and gender diverse participants feel empowered to actively participate at AIDS 2020: Virtual. This webinar provided a platform for trans and gender diverse participants to ask questions and find out how to make the most of attending the virtual conference, both inside the main conference, and within the Global Village, which is freely accessible to all.

GATE invited the following speakers to present on this topic:

  • JoAnne Keatley, IRGT Chair, presented a historical overview of the participation of trans people in the AIDS conference, and talked about the importance of involving and engaging the trans community at the conference;
  • Max Appenroth, GATE Project Coordinator of the Trans Men and HIV Working Group,
    spoke about the International Trans Men and HIV working group and shared information about GATE’s NGO booth; and
  • Michelle Ross, CliniQ Co-founder and Director of Holistic Wellbeing Services, presented the Trans Networking Zone “Thriving in Our Diversity!”

This session was moderated by Erika Castellanos – GATE Director of Programs, and included a Q&A session.
