Call for Applications: Consultant for External Impact Assessment of Trans Men & HIV Project

GATE is seeking to engage an experienced consultant to conduct an external review of the Trans Men & HIV project in order to assess its impact, document successes, challenges, and lessons learned, as well as to make recommendations on strengthening future projects.

Background

GATE is coordinating a community-led project, in collaboration with an international working group, aimed at improving the inclusion of trans men and transmasculine persons in the global HIV response. The project aims to:

  • Produce and disseminate critical knowledge for use in high-level advocacy;
  • Engage with international stakeholders;
  • Raise visibility on key international platforms; and
  • Produce knowledge and information resources to support working group members in evidence-based advocacy at national and regional levels.

Objectives

We are seeking to engage an experienced consultant to conduct an external review of the project in order to assess the impact of the project, document the successes, challenges, and lessons learned during the implementation of the project, and make recommendations on strengthening future projects.  

Scope of Work

The consultant will collaborate with GATE team members to develop a detailed project methodology and tools, review project documentation, conduct interviews with working group members and other key informants, and develop an impact assessment report on the project.

Responsibilities

  • Review project reports;
  • Review project publications and products;
  • Conduct interviews with key informants;
  • Develop a draft evaluation report for review by the GATE team; and
  • Submit a final report within the project timeline.  

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in conducting reviews and evaluations of human rights and health advocacy projects;
  • Knowledge of international HIV response mechanisms;
  • A deep understanding of the health and human rights issues impacting trans and gender diverse communities;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience in report writing; and
  • Experience in working with trans men and trans masculine persons.
