Summary
Since the beginning of the epidemic, trans and gender diverse people carry some of the highest HIV burdens, being disproportionately affected by the infection and prevented from accessing prevention, treatment and care globally due to discrimination, stigma, criminalization, and violence.
In June 2026, GATE joined other civil society, key population networks, UN agencies and Member States and engaged the 2026 High-Level Meeting (HLM) on HIV and AIDS to close that gap.
This report documents GATE’s engagement at the 2026 UN High-Level Meeting on HIV and AIDS, highlighting GATE’s original research and a distinctly trans-led analysis into the official record to inform the 2026 Political Declaration on HIV/AIDS.
