With over a decade of research in microbiology and cellular stress response, her work focuses on sexual and reproductive health and rights, particularly infectious diseases like HIV and MonkeyPox. Her expertise as a Microbiologist and personal experience as a person living with HIV inform her work and advocacy efforts.
Amanita worked at Gilead Sciences for a span of a year and a half on different projects aimed at educating the general public about HIV and Serophobia. She then began her position as HIV Research and Advocacy Officer at Transgender Europe, where she serves as an expert for other global health organizations such as UNAIDS, the WHO, and the ECDC, advocating for policy changes that support at-risk trans communities. At TGEU, her main task is to lead research on SRHR and address issues surrounding violence, discrimination, and harassment against trans people globally.
