Inequality and pandemics: the central role of Trans and Gender Diverse Community-led organizations in combating current and future health threats

GATE Executive Director, Erika Castellanos, has been appointed as a member of the newly formed Global Council on Inequality, AIDS, and Pandemics. Internationally, there is increasing awareness that inequality is a driver of global pandemics. Community-led organizations must be at the center of health interventions and human rights advocacy to effectively combat current and future health threats.

World AIDS Day 2020: Centering Key Populations in the Global HIV Response

This year we commemorate World AIDS Day in the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the devastation caused by the ongoing pandemic, we call on global policymakers and donors to not lose sight of their goal to end the HIV epidemic, which is entering its fifth decade and continues to disproportionately devastate our communities.

World AIDS Day 2019 – Communities Make The Difference

On December 1st we commemorate World AIDS Day, to raise awareness around HIV and to remember and honor those who have died of AIDS-related illnesses. The theme for this year is Communities Make The Difference.

The HIV epidemic is far from over and the relevance, leadership and guidance of UNAIDS is ever more critical. ICASO and GATE recognize that a strong and effective UNAIDS is needed to ensure that HIV continues to be a global development priority and that sufficient resources are allocated to end the epidemic.

IAS 2019 – Trans Communities Sessions

The IAS Conference 2019 is being held in Mexico City from 21-24 July, with the Community Forum from 20-21 July and the 4th LAC Platform Forum from 18-20 July. GATE will be attending all three events.
