Global Action for Trans* Equality wishes to warmly welcome and announce our newest member of staff: intersex issues specialist, Morgan Carpenter.
Morgan has recently joined GATE to support our work on intersex issues, to help us build bridges with the intersex movement, and to ensure that GATE fulfills its mission by addressing bodily diversity issues in the best possible way.
Morgan is the founder of an international Intersex Day Project and co-chair of OII Australia. He has played an active role in systemic advocacy at local, national and international levels. In 2014, he and Mauro Cabral co-edited a community submission to the World Health Organisation on intersex issues in the ICD.
Morgan participated in the first intersex expert meeting held by the UN in 2015 and has moderated a presentation on intersex to the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. He has also advised multiple UN agencies, a Council of Europe inquiry into the rights of intersex people, the Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions, and the UN Special Rapporteur on health. Morgan is currently taking a Master of Bioethics program at the University of Sydney Medical School.
