There aren’t a lot of organizations that truly have a global focus when it comes to transgender-led organizations who are working on HIV and AIDS. So I think partnerships are really important, in particular, partnerships among trans organizations. Something that I've been really pleased with, partnering with GATE, is that we have been able to leverage resources, the limited resources that each of our organizations brings to the table, and we've been able to accomplish more with those limited resources than we would be able to accomplish by ourselves, supporting one another in the process.

Our History
GATE was born out of a need for a central body to lobby for trans rights at the global level, particularly at the United Nations. Founded in 2009, GATE sought to develop a global coordinating network for trans organizing to transform the systematic exclusion of trans people and their issues from international decision-making and research processes. March 24, 2021 – International Day for the Right to the Truth concerning Gross Human Rights Violations and for the Dignity of Victims.

Misinformation, disinformation, fake news, conspiracy theories and lies about trans children, adolescents and adults are hurting our communities everywhere, fueling anger, fear, hate, ignorance and confusion. However, stopping stigma, discrimination and violence against trans people only requires something very simple: the truth.

We are human beings. Our rights are human rights. There are enough human rights for everyone. Our names matter. Our bodies matter. Our futures matter. Our lives matter. We matter.
